It is fictional, no normal, and doesn’t make sense. From the beginning, it is funny. The function of anecdote is to share with other an account of an unusual or amusing incident.  

Generic structure

1. Abstract

   Signal the retelling of an unusual incident.

2. Orientation

   Set the scene or brief describing.

3. Crisis

   Provide details of an unusual incident.

4. Reaction or incident

   React to crises.

5. Coda

   Optimal- reflect on or evaluation of the incident.

Language Features

•    Use of exclamations, rhetorical questions an intensifier (really, very, quite, etc.) to point up the significance of the events.

•     Use of material processes to tell what happened.

•    Use of temporal conjunctions. 

•    Use of past tense.
